Baby's First...

Today was Kailee's first outfit, I mean outing. We took Miss K. as Micah has taken to calling her, to the doctor. She weighs 6 lbs 5 oz, and is in the 25th percentile for her age. The doctor said that she was small, but strong. We’ll take it. She had to get her PKU test and the when the nurse poked her, oh boy, did she scream. It wasn’t her baby cry it was her, “don’t you be messin with me” yell. I was quite proud. She did a great job at the doctor today. Now, she is at home taking a nap as if nothing happened. But, seriously, how adorable is she?

My Angels

It’s safe to say that Kailee is going to be a daddy’s girl, but we had no idea that Mr. Piggins was going to be so in love with her. Everyone who has come to meet her today got the full shake down from her new security detail, Lt. Higgins. He just loves her.

She has been an absolute dream, but she was a little fussy this afternoon, after she had her bottle. Well, this concerned our little Higgins, and he bolted to the basement. I thought that he was going to get a break from our Adventures in Kailee Land, but it wasn’t a few seconds before he dashed back up the stairs with his most favorite toy and all he wanted to do was give it to her. I have a feeling those two are going to be great buddies.

Believe

As a child I remember believing in magic. I remember that my parents used to leave hints and clues to foster that belief. It seems so silly now, but the truth is that teaching me the hope in believing has been one of the most powerful lessons that they ever taught me. As an adult it was those same signs, although not planted but seemingly meaningless, a stranger holding the door, a gentle snow fall, children asking Santa to give their gifts to someone who truly needs them, a relatively unknown neighbor being invited to share a meal with your family so they are not alone, a hug from an old friend, that give me joy and hope for the future. Believe.
